Glenn Long
Owner
|
Glenn has been involved with the motorsports industry since the 1970’s. His initial involvement was focused on autocrosses, rallies and time trials with local sports car clubs. He joined SCCA in 1982 and drove an FP Sprite at Lime Rock, Pocono and Bridgehampton in regional races.
In the mid 80’s he ran in the Playboy Escort endurance series. He continued to campaign several cars up and down the east coast, most notably a Cosworth Vega in ITA for many years. Glenn funded his racing by a small part time car repair business.
During the 1990’s Glenn’s attention turned towards giving something back to the racing community in the way of instructing for national marque clubs and SCCA. He also became a committed SCCA worker, specializing in flagging and communications. As the past Regional Executive for the North Carolina Sport Car Club of America region, he has the ability to work directly with sanctioning organizations, tracks and race teams.
In 2001, Glenn formed Long Road Racing (LRR), initially to support his son Tom Long in his early years of racing with SCCA. LRR supported Tom in becoming the 2005 Pro Spec Miata national champion.
Since then, LRR has become a recognized center of excellence for a full slate of racing services. LRR’s primary focus is customer service in support of race team management for both pro and amateur racing teams and individuals, car preparation and enhancement for all brands.
Glenn is also the crew chief for the Freedom Autosports Grand AM effort of multiple ST cars and also supports various GS teams when required.
Glenn received his project management certification from PMI in 2002, which helps him both professionally and in his team management role at LRR.

Eric Arms
Grand Am Program Owner
|
Eric continues to work up through the ranks with a high attention to detail and the willingness to ensure that every time a racecar comes off the trailer it has the capability to either grab the pole or win. Eric credits his skills and work ethic to his father, who always told him to keep an open mind to making things better, lighter, faster.
Eric starting out as a Grand Am Car builder in Indianapolis, specializing in Mazda RX-8’s was his first step into professional racing. Eric quickly absorbed the high value skills and processes that make race teams successful. It didn’t take long before he was promoted to the crew chief position for a championship contending World Challenge Mazda team. The team was also awarded “Crew of the Year” and finished second in the championship.
Ready for the next big thing, it was back into Grand Am racing, in a quest to drive a team all the way to the top. Now employed by Long Road Racing and taking on the Freedom Autosport program, Eric’s has very high expectations for the 2011 season. Eric said “This season is going to be great! New cars, new drivers, new crew and a factory backed Mazda race team….what more could you ask for!!"
If you can’t find Eric at Long Road Racing’s Shop in Raleigh, you will hear the exhaust tone of his Harley on the way out to the coast. See you at the races!!!

"I was referred to Long Road Racing when Glenn was working by himself. Since then he has been my “go-to-guy” for anything that has to do with suspension and set-up. He and his crew have always done exceptional work in the friendliest manner possible. They have always been there for information on anything to do with racing and the car that you are driving. If there is something that I can’t do to my car, Long Road Racing is the first place I go to for help! I have referred many people to Glenn and would not hesitate to continue to send referrals his way! In all honesty I hope I never have to find another shop to work with concerning my race car! You will be in good hands with the crew at Long Road Racing!" - Michael Smith
